about festival

Proceeds go to charity

This music and theatre festival draws upon the tradition of the Uganda Festival, where bands donated their honoraria to support a Ugandan girl. After this event merged with the Kalkata Festival, which focused on cultural initiatives in the Pardubice region, it expanded in the dimension of regional charity. That support goes to SKP-CEDR, a project aimed at helping people with psychological conditions.

Our charitable causes

The Archdiocese Charity in Prague launched its Long-Distance Adoption project in 1993. Thanks to small donors from the Czech Republic, children in the developing world can receive education in their natural cultural environment, and the program also supports the overall development of their communities through other projects. A high degree of efficiency, transparency and sustainability are among the advantages of this kind of development aid. Moreover, it transcends monetary assistance by helping to foster genuine personal relationships, thereby justifying the term "long-distance adoption" and allowing donors to truly consider themselves "adoptive parents". Vypsaná fiXa, one of the bands involved in the festival, has become a "parent" of this kind to Prossa Nabbaleke, a Ugandan girl whose one year of schooling it subsidized from the proceeds of the Uganda Festival.

SKP-CENTRUM is an organization providing services to socially, mentally or ethnically disadvantaged people in Pardubice; SKP-CEDR is a part of this organization, offering psycho-social rehabilitation. It runs workshops and a day center with leisure activities for people with psychological conditions. As part of SKP-CEDR's presentation, the activities of the whole SKP-CENTRUM will be introduced. SKP-CENTRUM is the parent organization to Paprsek ("Ray") - a municipal shelter for mothers with children, a municipal shelter for men and Portus - a daytime center. It also provides comprehensive domestic care and legal aid to the disadvantaged.
